Simply Maya - Character Posing & Ball Throw Animation

SimplyMaya - Character Posing & Ball Throw Animation

This tutorial is intended for new users to get started with animation in Maya and is therefore easy to follow along with. We start with the fully rigged character and you will learn how create a starting pose for a ball throw.

We then take you through the complete process of setting up key frames for the individual joints on the character to create realistic movement in the arms and legs. Once the complete animation is roughly blocked out this way we will teach you how to start editing the keys to loosen up the motion and make him deform as he would in the real world. During this part we work in the Graph Editor and learn how to use the Dope Sheet, these are common things to work with when you're editing animations in Maya.

Following the workflow presented in this tutorial you'll get a good start and a solid foundation in this field. The project is followed by a tutorial on Creating a Boxing Animation if you want to continue on and learn more.
